Michelle Yeoh's new modern-day martial arts movie that is simply an Asian version of the typical American comic book superhero. Michelle Yeoh is the Silver Hawk, a mysterious person who defends the weak and fights the baddies. This time round, she is up against a megalomanic called Alexander Wolfe, who is planning on taking over the world by brainwashing people through their mobile phones. Silver Hawk has to team up with police officer Richman, who has his own orders to arrest Silver Hawk.
Yau (Sammi Cheng) is a restaurant owner but not a great cook herself.
But that is not what is worrying her. Her mother had once told her that
the female line of their family suffer from poor relationships and will
not find the love of their lives. She begins to understand whenever she
tries to make love to her boyfriend (Andy Lau), which always end up in
disaster. However, she doesn't realise that she has a secret admirer in
Siu-ho (Jerry Yan of F4 fame), who is her business partner.
Fantasia is a spoof on those golden Hong Kong films of the 1970s which had starred Sam Hui and his brothers as well as other famous names such as Josephine Siao. The date is 1969 and private detectives Michael (Lau Ching Wan), Sam (Louis Koo) and Fugu (Jordan Chan) break all kinds of antiques when they are chasing thieves through an antiques shop. Fugu takes some of the stuff back home to fix it, and one looks similar to an Aladdin lamp. He rubs it and out pops a wizard called Bobo (Cecilia Cheung) who will grant him three wishes.
A young waitress named Por was nearly beaten to death by a drug dealer. Thinking she was dead, the men take her body and dump it in the sea. Luckily she is found and saved by a female doctor, but amazingly Por is told that she is pregnant. From then on, her life is filled with terrifying images and experiences. |
